Welcome to the my website, Stepping In Today.  Stepping in Today is a website designed to help stepfamlies throughout America that are living in "blended homes" simply by sharing our blending family.  I hope that through our stories you can find answers, laughter and much needed boundaries that make the average stepfamily of today work.  It isn't the Bradys that television would have you dream of, but the real day to day challenges and triumphs we all face together that make stepping in today a step in the right direction.

Our Story

We met in the most unusual fashion, business introduced us in an unkind way, but friendship and community had it that we would meet again.  As a real estate listing agent for a  lovely rental apartment in our local neighborhood, I took the liberty of showing the cottage, only to realize it had been occupied a few days prior.   The professional business woman in me, having a signed listing agreement, planned to evict the kind tenant, father of three children, and obtain the commission I was entitled.  As the heart would have it, being the newly divorced single mom of three children myself, I gave up the plight when the circumstances of the newly divorced father of three were explained to me.  Several months later, in the same little town, I attended a block party.  When this kind man inquired about me and  was told I was the woman who tried to evict him.  His introduction was as such; "Are you the woman that tried to evict me from my apartment?" and my reply; "Perhaps, which would make you the man that owes me $1000."   Years later he still shares with people that he has indeed paid that back, tenfold. 

So, I with my three daughters and he with his two sons and one daughter decided to do the unthinkable, and combine.  Yes, the wicked stepfamily as books and fairytales would tell you, or the emerging blended family, as we refer to it today. We flew all of us to the Bahamas and were married on the beach, where we "familymooned".  A few months after arriving home I was treated for vertigo, only to find out 16 weeks later that vertigo had another name, now known as Christopher!
